FABA 2-day Tournament Teams Tryouts
The Ballersville League is building two teams for the Filipino American Basketball Association of Metropolitan DC's 5th Philippines Independence Day/Invitational 2- Days Tournament on June 25 and 26, 2011. We are looking to join two divisions: 5'11"/under Mens OPEN and 33/over Mens Senior.
The Player Qualifications are as follows:
Must be of Filipino/Asian/Pacific-American blood or heritage (born in Asia and Pacific Island), or born in USA with one of the parents of Asian and Pacific Islander ancestry, or any one of his/her grandparents of Asian and Pacific Islander ancestry. Any doubt under this provision that results in a challenge from the opposing team shall require the player in question to present his/her proof of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage. A passport and a birth certificate must be presented. This will be strictly imposed to any player who is in question. If a such player can't provide the information needed, all games he played will be forfeited. No exception. Must be listed in the team roster. Only the players who are in the roster form are allowed to play and he must play at least 1 pool play game to be eligible to play in the play-offs. Must provide proof of his/her age, if question.

The Player Qualifications are as follows:
Must be of Filipino/Asian/Pacific-American blood or heritage (born in Asia and Pacific Island), or born in USA with one of the parents of Asian and Pacific Islander ancestry, or any one of his/her grandparents of Asian and Pacific Islander ancestry. Any doubt under this provision that results in a challenge from the opposing team shall require the player in question to present his/her proof of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage. A passport and a birth certificate must be presented. This will be strictly imposed to any player who is in question. If a such player can't provide the information needed, all games he played will be forfeited. No exception. Must be listed in the team roster. Only the players who are in the roster form are allowed to play and he must play at least 1 pool play game to be eligible to play in the play-offs. Must provide proof of his/her age, if question.

Tryouts will be every Wednesday starting on May 18, 2011 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the YMCA Basketball Gym in Elkton, MD.

G4 (9:35pm): Team Black pulls its act to get past Team Red (101-89)
Team Red played the game with only 5 players against Team Black. They started strong and eventually was holding on a double-digit lead until the middle of the first half.
Team Black was having an off-night during the first half and was missing shots left and right. They eventually pulled their act together before the first half ended and was able to get the lead for the first time in the game.
The 2nd half was all Team Black as they were able to control Team Red's attacks. It was also possible that Team Red ran out of steam as they only had 5 players for the game. They had to get 1 Loaner Player to be able to rest their players.
Team Black never let go of their lead in the 2nd half as they continually crash the boards. They were led by Ramon Agui with 25 points and Kirby Monsalud who had his season-best of 18 points. Team Black is now alone on 2nd place in the standings with a 3-1 win-loss record.
Team Red slid down further with 4 losses. They are tied with Team Orange at the bottom of the rankings.

G4 (8:35pm): Team Blue extends winning streak to 4, defeats Team Orange (126-93)
It was a typical day for Team Orange, they didn't have a complete lineup for their game. Only 2 players suited up for Team Orange and per the league rules, this is a defaulted game. Team Blue was awarded the win before the game was started.
The game was played with Team Orange fielding 4 Loaner players. Team Captain JC Destreza was holding their fort but he needed a lot of help from Team Gray's Dynamic Duo of Dexterrrrr and Alvinnnnnn. JC scored 19 points while the other Orange Team member, Nestor San Diego, added 8.
Team Blue had some fun during the game as they were trying to get all their players to score double-digits. Most of them did except for Karl Ebron who dedicated more of his playing time on providing excellent defense. Joel Villamor received a new monicker during the game as he was being called as 'Justin Beiber'. Some fans along the baseline were electrified or should we say 'Beiberized' by his exceptional basketball skills.
Team Blue now has 4 wins while Team Orange has 4 losses.
